In my opinion, on-demand publishing is one of the coolest of the new realities enabled by the web. Of the many options online, MyPublisher.com is one of my favorites. MyPublisher offers premium photo books in multiple sizes with hundreds of layouts in several styles and finishes – all controlled by you. While working for Condé Nast’s Online Marketing and Portal group, one of my projects was the redesign of several existing but non-aggregated web-based tools used by marketers and vendors for tracking, reporting and more. Style in the Aisle was a promotional game & sweepstakes where users could spin a roulette-like wheel and win free products, plus get entered into the sweepstakes for big prizes. I compiled the wheel in Flash using elements imported from Photoshop and Illustrator and scripted the wheel decay and events in Actionscript 2. (more…)
The ShopVogue.tv website was a spare no-expense Flash driven e-commerce experiment. It’s goal was to bring a one (or two) click “shop from the pages of Vogue” experience to the web. Unfortunately opportunistic litigation led to design compromises that hindered the user experience and after a few seasons the site folded. The domain now resolves to the Vogue.TV YouTube channel. When Condé Nast Publications reached out to Euro RSCG for a redesign of their corporate intranet – Condé Nast Connect – they got the same creatives responsible for IBM’s own intranet – w3. I wrote much of the UI code for a w3 redesign, and as both run under IBM’s Websphere application server, Euro reached out to me to help them with the Condé Nast project.
GlamAlert.com is one of Glamour magazine’s promotional websites. The site features up to date news and promotions for the glamourous life. I maintained the site for about a year before going to work full-time for parent company Condé Nast. (more…)
